Description

Seeds from Gary Cass, who grows many tomato varieties on the Big Island of Hawaii. Gary Cass gave the seeds to Gary Ibsen. Seeds for this variety germinates fast and "grows like a weed." Gary Cass found the seed in the Center for Genetic Resources (CGN) in Holland, listed as Lycopersicon succentrianum, while he was searching for wild species. This variety originally came from the wild tomato collection of H. Georgiev, Bulgaria. Cass named the variety Menehune after the mythical small people of Hawaii. Indeterminate, regular leaf plant produces lots of tiny beefsteak tomatoes, about 1.5"-2" in diameter with flavor better than the similar looking Ceylon variety. They have a 7-8 or more locules, unusual for such a small tomato. A good tomato for salads and making delicious sauces or salsa.
